E-News Update

Hi All,

We hope you're enjoying the beginning of Spring and the nicer days that have come our way!

In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, PECO is offering free trees to help lower energy costs, create wildlife habitat, and grow healthier neighborhoods. If you've been thinking about planting a new tree, this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for. Also, be advised that this is the time of year for PECO tree & vegetation management.

As a reminder, we will be meeting for our Work Session on April 2nd and this month's Council Meeting is rescheduled to April 8th due to the Council Rock School District's Spring Break. Please visit our website calendar to find the dates, times, locations, agendas, and remote attendance information for both Borough Council and Committees of Council meetings. Council Work Sessions are held at Borough Hall and via Zoom, while the Council Meetings take place at the Chancellor Center and are livestreamed on YouTube. Participation in public comment, however, does require in-person attendance.

Later this month, the Newtown Borough Police Department will be participating in Medicine Take Back Day at the Newtown Fire Association. This is a good opportunity to dispose of items lingering in you and your loved ones' medicine cabinets.

Looking ahead, our annual street sweeping will be held on May 21st and 22nd this year. We kindly request that you make a point to move your vehicles and assist us in maximizing our street cleaning efforts. Note that our street sweeping begins the day following our Primary Election on Tuesday, May 20th, so please "save the date" to take part in both, and thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Thank you to all who play a role in keeping our borough such a desirable place to be. We invite you to consider one of the few remaining 2025 Volunteer Opportunities that may align with your interests.

If you have friends and neighbors in the Borough who may also be interested in staying informed, please forward this email and encourage them to sign up for E-News Alerts too.

Warm regards,

Newtown Borough Mayor & Council
