Newtown Borough E-News Update |
January certainly dealt us our share of cold temperatures and snow, and now we look ahead and hope that February goes a bit easier on us all! As a winter reminder, our Ordinances pertaining to Snow and Ice Emergencies and Snow and Ice Removal can always be accessed at https://www.boroughofnewtown.com/codes. Our website calendar continues to be your best resource to find the dates, times, and other important information regarding Borough Council and Committees of Council meetings. As a reminder, Council Work Sessions are held at Borough Hall and via Zoom, while the Council Meetings take place at the Chancellor Center and are livestreamed on YouTube. Participation in public comment, however, does require in person attendance. While on the calendar, you may notice that the Newtown Library Company is again hosting their Booklovers' Party this month. This event provides the funding they depend upon to maintain this treasured historic institution we are so fortunate to have in our community! Speaking of historic, we are so pleased with the quality restoration of the Centre Avenue Bridge performed by PennDOT. We appreciate everyone's patience as much needed repairs to this double-arch stone bridge, built in 1796, took place to ensure pedestrian and vehicular safety. Thank you to all who play a role in keeping our borough such a desirable place to be. We invite you to consider one of the few remaining 2025 Volunteer Opportunities that may align with your interests. As stated last month, parking permits expire and replacements are available. Please see 2025 Parking Regulations for details. If you have friends and neighbors in the Borough who may also be interested in staying informed, please forward this email and encourage them to sign up for E-News Alerts too. Warm regards, Newtown Borough Mayor & Council |
