E-News Update

Hello, All!

Our sincere gratitude goes out to Timothy Jones, Kim Korda, and Gina Tognini for submitting applications to fill the Borough Council vacancy in Ward 2! Please see Borough Council Vacancy for the details which will result in a new Newtown Borough Councilor being sworn into office on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 and serving through December 31, 2025.

If you haven't had the opportunity to enjoy "Music on State Street" yet, performances are taking place every Thursday in August beginning at 6pm. Maybe stop in at one of our restaurants or retail shops to further enjoy the evening. Details for this and other upcoming special events can be found on our homepage.

Our homepage is also where you'll find our calendar that provides the dates, times, and other important information regarding Borough Council and Committees of Council meetings. This month, Borough Council will meet in a Work Session on August 7th and a Council Meeting on August 13th.

The adoptions of three ordinances pertaining to chicken-keeping, stormwater permits, and frontage permits will be discussed and voted on this month along with an agreement and a few resolutions. Agendas are usually posted on the website calendar the Friday afternoon prior to these meetings.

As a reminder, Council Work Sessions are held at Borough Hall and can be watched live on Zoom. The monthly Council Meetings take place at the Chancellor Center and are livestreamed on YouTube. Audio and video recordings are available on the Borough website calendar following the meetings.

Please click 2024 Volunteer Opportunities to see the few vacancies that remain on our Committees, Commissions, and Boards.

Thank you for staying informed and please forward this email to new neighbors who may be interested to sign up for E-News Alerts too.

Best regards,

Newtown Borough Mayor & Council
