Newtown Borough
E-News Update

Hello, All!

We've made it through a couple of snowfalls, March is here, and Spring officially begins in less than three weeks!

Our website calendar continues to be your best resource to find the dates, times, agendas, Zoom links, and other important information regarding all borough meetings. This month's Work Session will be held on March 6th followed by the Council Meeting on March 12th. The monthly Council Meetings take place at the Chancellor Center and are livestreamed on YouTube.

On the agenda for this month is the adoption of the Single-Use Plastics Ordinance, ongoing discussion of a Single Trash Hauler Ordinance, and a preliminary discussion of a Chicken Ordinance to address the rise in rodent population.

Construction of the new lighting system and ADA-accessible ramps at the intersection of Washington and Lincoln Avenues is scheduled to begin within the first half of the month. Be aware that, at certain times, one or more pedestrian crossings at this intersection may be closed. Please plan to use the crosswalks at Chancellor and Norwood on Washington Ave. and Greene on Lincoln Ave., if necessary. Do not attempt to cross mid-street. Vehicular traffic will not be affected.

Please check our website homepage for the latest update on the hiring of a borough manager along with other news, meetings, events, and more.

If you're thinking of getting more involved in the community, please consider one of our remaining 2024 Volunteer Opportunities.

If you have friends and neighbors in the Borough who may also be interested in staying informed, please forward the email and encourage them to sign up for E-News Alerts too.

Best regards,

Newtown Borough Mayor & Council
