Newtown Borough
E-News Update

Hello, All!

On Wednesday, May 3rd, the public is invited to honor our military, veterans, first responders, and their families who Carry The Load by welcoming them as they march into Newtown.

The Environmental Advisory Council has scheduled their monthly meeting on Monday, May 8th at the Chancellor Center to discuss a single-use plastics ordinance. Business owners, as well as the general public, are invited to attend and learn more.

Please be on the lookout for our Spring Newsletter that will be arriving in all borough mailboxes in mid-May. Of particular interest is a pedestrian safety and walkability study survey that will be found on page 8. Scan the QR code and share your opinions with us.

As stated last month, Newtown Borough has scheduled its annual street sweeping on Wednesday, May 17th and Thursday, May 18th with a rain date on May 22nd. We would greatly appreciate if everyone would move their vehicles off the street so we can clear away as much debris as possible. Note that our street sweeping begins the day following our Primary Election on Tuesday, May 16th, so please mark your calendars to take part in both, and thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The month of May is never complete without the annual Memorial Day Parade! Please see here for the parade route and details, including the Vintage Baseball game to follow.

Our website calendar continues to be your best resource to find the dates, times, and other important information regarding Borough Council and Committees of Council meetings, as well as any special events taking place in Newtown Borough. As a reminder, Council Work Sessions are held at Borough Hall. The monthly Council Meetings take place at the Chancellor Center and are livestreamed on YouTube.

We still have some vacancies if anyone is interested in volunteering on a Committee of Council. Please click 2023 Volunteer Opportunities for remaining openings if you're interested in taking on a new role.

If you have friends and neighbors in the Borough who may also be interested in staying informed, please forward the email and encourage them to sign up for E-News Alerts too.

Best regards,

Newtown Borough Mayor & Council
