Newtown Borough
E-News Update

April 1st was no joke, with an EF1 tornado rolling through the borough! Thankfully, the damage was limited to buildings and trees, with no reported harm to people or pets.

If Spring cleaning is on your agenda this month, please see our household hazardous waste flyer as well as prescription drug takeback if you're looking to properly dispose of these items. In addition, see Newtown Creek Spring Clean-Up if you'd like to take part in cleaning our local creek.

Please mark your calendars for our annual street sweeping on May 17th and 18th. We kindly request that you make a point to move your vehicles and assist us in maximizing our street cleaning efforts.

You may have read recently that Newtown Borough received two state grants. The Multimodal Transportation Grant is for $192.5K and will be applied towards the construction of 1,230 linear feet of sidewalk on Frost Lane. The Local Share Account (LSA) Grant, in the amount of $30K, will be put towards pedestrian improvements.

Our website calendar continues to be your best resource to find the dates, times, and other important information regarding Borough Council and Committees of Council meetings, as well as any special events taking place in Newtown Borough. As a reminder, Council Work Sessions are held at Borough Hall. The monthly Council Meetings take place at the Chancellor Center and are livestreamed on YouTube.

We still have some vacancies if anyone is interested in volunteering on a Committee of Council. Please click 2023 Volunteer Opportunities for remaining openings if you're interested in taking on a new role.

If you have friends and neighbors in the Borough who may also be interested in staying informed, please forward the email and encourage them to sign up for E-News Alerts too.

Stay well,

Newtown Borough Mayor & Council
